Sagrada familia

Symbole de Barcelone dans le monde la Sagrada Familia est aussi le monument le plus célèbre d’ Antoni Gaudi. L’architecte consacra seize années de sa vie à sa construction, vivant comme un reclus dans l’édifice avant d’avoir un accident et de mourir sans que son projet ne fût achevé. Depuis 1926 il repose dans la crypte de la cathédrale.

En poursuivant en 1883 le projet néogothique commencé par Francesc de Villar, Gaudi a pour objectif de construire une « cathédrale du XXe siècle » qui prendra modèle sur l’exubérance de la nature. 5 nefs verticales, des façades monumentales et des tours recouvertes de mosaïques donnent une impression de jamais vu.

Cette œuvre n’est toujours pas achevée car elle avance selon les donations faites par les visiteurs : c’est donc un chantier que vous allez visiter. Un tour au musée s’impose pour comprendre le cheminement créatif de Gaudi et ses méthodes de construction.

et de nouveau la sagrada familia évidemment !
le batiment a bien avancé
l'intérieur est très intéressant
l'extérieur et sa décoration me laissent plus perplexe, gaudi s'y retrouverait il ?

When I went to Barcelona with my college earlier in the year, I am unashamed to admit to being the only wstudent who paid the money (5 euros) to have a look inside.
That was once I'd decided to stop admiring its exterior. What beautiful carvings. So I went inside, admired its stunning stain glass, well constructed pillars and corbels, but also its ongoing work. Yep, there were workmen, diggers, scaffolding, the main features of a typical construction site. Absolutely surreal, a building site and beautiful religious building mixed. But I just loved it honesly words cannot describe it. A very different experience to looking round just another random church/cathedral. When I got through the other side, the other face of the church was even more gorgeously gothic.
Going back to Barcelona this October with my family, I cannot wait to see the Sagrada Familia again and intend to climb its spires this time! And again another day. The symbol of Barcelona, the unfinished church... ...and may that always be the case. I want to see it develop forever as its construction to date has ignored trends for the last century.

I have never been to Barcelona before but I am bringing my family and several friends on Thursday (Dec 29th). My one hope is that I can visit Sagrada Familia but I can not find a map to direct me to it. Maybe it's location is obvious but I would have like to be able to plan my visit.
