Pas très loin de la Place de Catalogne, mais suffisamment caché pour ne pas être sur les circuits touristiques, le Mercat del Ninot (le marché de l’enfant) est un marché très apprécié des catalans qui y font leurs courses quotidiennes.

Sans surprise, c’est d’une fraîcheur absolue: légumes, fruits, poisson, viande, charcuteries (dont de très bons stands de Jabugo)... Et pour reprendre votre souffle, quelques bars à tapas bien sûre !!

Friendly correction: Mercat del Ninot does not translate to "the market of the child" but the market of the Puppet/Doll. It takes its name of a figurehead shaped as a child who once decorated an old taverna and later the market, and that was popularly know as "El Ninot" (the big doll). The figurehead that gave the market its popular name, is currently held at the Maritime Museum.
